Endings and Begginnings

Now that my time as the intern at the Rankin Gardens and Atrium is coming to an end, I am excited for what the future holds. I have recently been hired as the Student Assistant at the Rankin and begin next semester. I am extremely excited to have this opportunity to further my experience here. Throughout my internship I have watched and learned from both of my supervisors and will now be able to execute the knowledge I have gained.

I was also able to contribute my knowledge of web design, campaigning, and event planning to the Rankin from my Communication classes. I will continue to learn from my successors and use this experience for the future. Reading everyone’s blogs about their experience has been encouraging.

The wedding package is ready to be presented and I cannot wait to have the finished product. I have learned from my mistakes and hope that one day I will be able to train the future intern at the Rankin Gardens and Atrium and have the positive impact that my boss has had on me.

Finally, I’m beginning to solve my issues of updating the Department of Theatre program cover. I decided to use a picture taken from Rent and use it as the background of the program cover. I deleted several layers of dated text, graphics, etc. to come up with a more modern and enticing cover.

The final draft of the cover isn’t due until mid-August so I’m waiting for Kern’s approval and hopefully some tips or suggestions on how to improve the cover. Tomorrow, I will begin working on something new for the College of the Arts. Kern assured me that there is still a lot of work to be done before fall semester begins and I am up for the task! I like being able to have such an impact on what the College of Arts is producing to students, faculty, and the general public. It’s very rewarding and I hope to continue working in this office in the fall as a student assistant.

Tyler Higgins – Busy days equal successful projects

The past few weeks have been filled with all things radio. I’ve found myself putting in countless hours reviewing and editing interviews, recording PSA’s, and producing a sports radio show. We stay busy down here at NPACE but thats the way that we like it! It keeps us on our toes and helps shape us into better students and one day, better professionals. A lot of the work I’ve been doing this week has been in preparation for the NPACE grand opening on February 14th.

Along with all the audio work that I do, I still have quite a bit of video production work come across my desk. Whether its helping other students shoot video or teaching them the editing software, there’s never a dull moment. What we are seeking to do is foster the creativity that already exists and teach technical skills so that the work that is produced is on par with professional standards. We’ve got tons of exciting things coming, so keep in touch!
