Tyler Higgins- Prepping for the next 2 weeks!

Just around the corner we have ArtBeat 2013. Last year, I did a lot of filming for this event and had a blast. The events that I was able to attend and the people I met made the many many hours put into it worth all the effort. I am excited for the events I’ll be attending this year and for the opportunity to further my video and editing skills. It looks to be two weeks full of art and filming! Columbus will soon be inundated with local and national artists alike. The number of events that will be taking place is overwhelming. For a full list of these events, check out: http://www.artbeatcolumbus.org/.

What to keep watch for you ask? Keep an eye out for me and other communication students around Columbus while we film ArtBeat 2013! You will more than likely see us at many of these events working hard to capture this grand event. So stop by, say hello, and maybe offer an interview! We would love to hear about your experience at ArtBeat 2013. See you soon!

Tyler Higgins – The grandeur of the Grand Opening

Yesterday. So much lies behind that one word. If you saw what happened down at the NPACE Center yesterday, you would know exactly what I mean. We had our Grand Opening for the Center that consisted of an opening ceremony with speeches from the Columbus and Phenix City mayors, the President of the University and many others. The city closed down our block of 9th street and even stopped the train from passing during that morning! It was huge stuff!

We had the opening ceremony, a live radio show covering the event (hosted by our own Josh and Maggie), there was student lead tours throughout the day and many connections were made and conversations were had with business professionals, university officials and city officials. This Grand Opening was a huge undertaking that took a lot of prep work and sacrifice but because of all this work, it was a success. The day came to a close as yours truly summarized the night and replayed the earlier live broadcast from 6pm to 10pm that night. It was a great thing to be a part of!

Tyler Higgins – Busy days equal successful projects

The past few weeks have been filled with all things radio. I’ve found myself putting in countless hours reviewing and editing interviews, recording PSA’s, and producing a sports radio show. We stay busy down here at NPACE but thats the way that we like it! It keeps us on our toes and helps shape us into better students and one day, better professionals. A lot of the work I’ve been doing this week has been in preparation for the NPACE grand opening on February 14th.

Along with all the audio work that I do, I still have quite a bit of video production work come across my desk. Whether its helping other students shoot video or teaching them the editing software, there’s never a dull moment. What we are seeking to do is foster the creativity that already exists and teach technical skills so that the work that is produced is on par with professional standards. We’ve got tons of exciting things coming, so keep in touch!
