My time with Fun Academy Motion Pictures has been one of the most surprising, fun, interesting times in my life. As I reflect on my experience here, I think about where I started and where I am now.

When I did my first interview Fun Academy I had no idea what I was walking in to. The internship was recommended to me by a professor who didn’t have much information to give. As I sat with Tisha, my soon to be mentor, and listed to an amazing story about the most decorated war dog in history. I fell in love with Stubby’s story and the excitement of working for the company that made it. Their movie, Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero, was set to be released to theaters nationwide in three months and they were racing to get the movie to theaters.

I couldn’t believe it when I got hired, I even offered to start the next day! My first few weeks I worked closely with Tisha, learning the administrative side of the business. I spent a lot of time getting to know what the company was and how they worked.

By February I was working in the group sales department. I was booking events for field trips and military groups to see our movie in theaters. I helped to book 25 events for the opening week and 40 events for the first month of release.

My favorite thing I got to do during my internship was getting to attend the Columbus premiere of the movie at the National Infantry Museum. After working with the company for so many months I was so excited to finally see the movie on the big screen. It was especially incredible to experience the movie in a theater full of people who had supported the project from the very beginning.

On April 13th, 2018, Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero premiered in theaters across the country. It’s a fantastic movie that combines adorable animation with factual content into perfectly blended ‘edutainment’.

I am incredibly thankful that I was able to be a part of the Fun Academy team and I’m so excited that they want to hire me after the semester is over. I can’t believe that I’ve been lucky enough to work with such a spectacularly talented group of people on a project that I love more than anything.
