More Dodgeball Recruiting

This week my tasks were to travel to all of the fire stations and police precincts to recruit for our dodgeball league occurring in January. As part of my research for what target audience would be best for this league, we determined that fire fighters and police officers would be the perfect group to reach out to. We know that they typically enjoy physical activity and are often times competitive, making them excellent candidates for our league.

We are also gearing up for our Christmas time toy drive and have been promoting that through print media, like billboards, and social media. We are offering a discount for those who bring in an unwrapped toy for the toy drive from now until Christmas time. This upcoming weekend we will be working the Christmas tree lighting downtown and will also be decorating our Christmas tree for the UpTown Tree Trail.

As the weeks dwindle down, I still aspire to learn more. I’ve been watching Mr.Robinson as he edited a promo video for a fashion show he recently recorded. I want to be really good at editing because I plan to make my own YouTube videos soon. I want important people to see my work and want me to work for them and then make my way up. I’ll be looking for work or internships close to production like a tv station or a production company. I really want this.

Hey all –

This week, the intern team got to sit in on Mr. Robinson editing one of his videos that he was working on for a client. Not only did we get to see the editing process, but we also got to see how he was working on it in light of what the client was trying to communicate through the video. It was a great learning experience to say the least.

‘Til next time,

Chris

Week 12: Just the Beginning

This week I continued learning about weather, writing news scripts, and editing videos. I recorded the scores Friday. As of this moment, I have exactly two weeks and one day remaining in my internship. It has been the best first internship I have ever done. As bittersweet as it is, I plan to make the most of the remaining days at the station. Next week, I will continue working with sports, news, and weather. I will help the sports reporter record scores and film basketball games on Monday. On Tuesday, I am going with the news reporter in the field to cover a story and make a package. For the rest of the week, I will work on weather and assist with writing and editing for news. From day one, I have enjoyed every second of this internship. Even though it is ending, I will never forget everything the people at WLTZ has taught me. I will be forever grateful to WLTZ for helping me pursue my passion of news.

Dodgeball Recruiting and Uptown Tree Trial

Right now at Launch we are still working towards recruiting for our upcoming Dodgeball League so we’re visiting places to drop off information. So far we have visited all of the local gyms and next we are visiting local police and fire stations. We are also participating in UpTown Columbus’s Christmas Tree trail so we are also gearing up to decorate our Launch tree. Until Thanksgiving we are also doing a promotion for our canned food drive to help support needy families around the holiday season. This week will be a little slower than normal with it being a holiday week.

NPACE What We’ve Done: Blog

Hey –

This week was an interesting one. We had our normal, every-day equipment pickups and drop offs, but with it being so close to the end of the semester, we have many assignments left to be turned in. Getting all of these done have been a nightmare, but having this internship has helped me keep a schedule to get these assignments done – on top of it teaching me much about the videography profession.

‘Til next time,

Chris
