In the fall, I worked as the public address announcer for the soccer and volleyball teams. It was an enjoyable experience, which helped me hone my “media voice”. It also helped with live composure because everyone can hear any mistakes that I make. This semester I have had the opportunity to work as the public address announcer for some of the baseball and softball games. These were much more difficult because more is going on and the games last longer. The length certainly adds to the difficulty because I have to sound as excited during the sixth hour as I did during the first. The whole purpose of the public address announcer is to heighten up the overall mood of the attendants of the game. I take this to heart and try to let emotion drive my performance.
